Whanganui Opera Week 2018 was once again a fantastic occasion, thanks to the incredibly talented singers, tutors and organisers alike. The public came out in force to enjoy a wide range of events, from cafe performances to tutoring lessons and the 'Great Opera Moments' on the final night.

The annual N.Z. Opera School has become a strong part of the cultural life of Whanganui and we look forward to the 25th NZ Opera School in January 2019.

Whanganui Opera Week supports the New Zealand Opera School in Wanganui each summer.
Students from across New Zealand join their internationally renowned Tutors and Répétiteurs at the Wanganui Collegiate School for two weeks' intensive training of vocal and stagecraft skills.

Please see our Events page for details of events open to the public.

Many well known operatic names with successful national and international careers attended the School including Simon O'Neill; Philip Rhodes, Bianca Andrews, Stephen Diaz, Darren Pene Pati, Amitai Pati, Hadleigh Adams, Madeleine Pierard and many more who have progressed to study in the great opera houses of Europe and America.
